About The Boat

Mamaku is a CS (Canadian Sailcraft) 36, built in 1983 in Ontario. Her length over all is 36.5′ and her beam is 11.5′. She is a masthead sloop with a fin keel and a spade rudder. Her mast is 52.83′ high and she has a displacement of 15,500 lbs. The engine is a Westerbeke 30. She stores 314 ltrs of water and holds 132 ltrs of fuel.

We cook with a propane stove and oven in the galley, there is a chest freezer/fridge combo as well. There is a hand-held shower but we tend not to use it, opting instead to shower in marinas, at the rec centre and when cruising, with a solar-warmed shower bag. In the winter we plug into regular hydro on the dock, when off the dock the rest of the year our solar panels charge the bank of batteries, which provide enough electricity for all our basic needs including running the fridge.
